A Review of Non-Thermal Plasma Technology: A novel solution for CO2 conversion and utilization

Abstract Increasing attention has been drawn to carbon dioxide (CO2) conversion into higher-value platform chemicals and synthetic fuels due global warming. These reactions require a large amount of thermal energy in order proceed, which is ascribable the high stability bonds CO2. Non-thermal plasma (NTP)-catalytic CO2 emerged as promising method significantly reduce reaction temperature can activate at low room atmosphere pressure. However, this technology requires paradigm shift process design enhance plasma-catalytic performance. using plasma-catalysis great potential increase efficiencies synergetic effects between catalysts. It crucial present recent progress utilization whilst providing research prospects framework direction for future both industries laboratories. Herein, comprehensive review recent, encouraging achievements NTP provided. The topics reviewed work are: i) different sources relation product selectivity, conversion, efficiency; ii) plasma-based applications; iii) integrated with capture; iv) current challenges perspectives. market value possible products from process, including fuels, make commercialization feasible. Furthermore, selectivities these be further improved by developing suitable catalysts effective sensitivities performances under intricate conditions needed products.
